Riding for the Disabled
Riding for the Disabled is a wonderful charity which brings huge benefits in so many ways:
- It’s work, but it’s fun.
- Each child develops in confidence, improves their communication skills and builds their core strength, through the interaction with both the volunteers and the ponies.
- We at the Colchester Group of the RDA are lucky to work in such wonderful surroundings at Fletchers Farm Riding School who help in so many ways to make it work for us.
At the national level the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) benefits the lives of over 25,000 disabled children and adults. We at the Colchester Group of the RDA aim to enrich the lives of young disabled children in our local area through horse riding. And it really works!!
We have over twenty volunteers and gather on Monday mornings during term time to work with local children (with physical and learning disabilities and autism), to provide them with therapy, fitness, skills development and opportunities for achievement.
In addition to working closely with a local school we have one private session for up to four riders each week.
We are a charity, and we can only carry out our life-changing activities thanks to the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our volunteers and the good nature of our wonderful horses.
